Missing site icon at front end

    Hi,

I'm having an issue on my site icon. I uploaded a favicon through Appearance->customisation->site identity->site icon. The icon can be shown at the back end of my site. However, a default wordpress icon is shown at the front end instead. I've tried another method by installing a plugin called "Favicon by RealFaviconGenerator" but it doesn't work. My customised site icon only appears at the back end, but not at the front end or in google searching results.

    Best regrards,

    Karen

    Hi Karen,

Additional plugins for the favicon are not needed.

I checked your website and I can see an error in webconsole, saying that the site is trying to display a favicon, but it can't find the file favicon.ico on the server:

    6781409963.png

Which means, the icon was indeed generated at some point. But the file https://everyoungtcm.com/favicon.ico is now missing on the server for some reason.

So first thing to try is to reupload the image in Appearance -> customisation -> site identity -> site icon, so that WordPress generates the favicon.ico again.

Let me know if it will display after upload. And if it doesn't, please check if there are any errors visible, which could help us reveal the source of the issue.

    Kind regards,

    Andrej

    Hi Andrej,

I've disabled the favicon plugin and reuploaded my the icon(a png file). But it still only shows up at back end but missing at the front end.

    Best regrards,

    Karen

    Hi,

I uploaded the favicon, then I tested it in the browser, where I wasn't logged in and the favicon seems to display:

    2024492833.png

Please check if you can see too.

The site is using LiteCache plugin, which seem to modify the favicon WordPress behaviour. I personally am not too familiar with this plugin, but I noticed a favicon redirect in your .htaccess file, written by the caching plugin:

    4254999125.png

So basically what is happening is that whenever a favicon is requested, your caching plugin is redirecting the user to the cached version of the favicon, which the browser can't find for some reason.

My recommendation is to delete the favicon part from your .htaccess file. There is probably a setting for the favicon somewhere in the LiteSpeed plugin settings.

Caching makes a lot of sense for the sites with hundrets of concurrent users. But for business sites which doesn't have such peaks in traffic, it is not really needed. Overoptimisation can cause all sorts of problems (ie javascript minification). If the problems persist, you can disable the LiteCache plugin entirely.
After disabling the plugin, you might need to manually delete all its settings in the .htaccess file.

PS. I had to change the user language to English, this can be changed in WP Dashboard -> Users.

Please let me know if the favicon is now displayed or if you need any further assistance,

    Andrej

    Hi Andrej,

The favicon still doesn't show up. I've disabled the cache plugin and edit the .htaccess file but I'm not sure if I did it in the right way(Please refer to the attached image). After that I try to reupload the site icon in Appearance setting but it's still not showing at frond end.

    Best regards,

    Karen

    Hi Karen,

I logged into your site and manually uploaded favicon.ico file, using the WP File manager plugin.

Please check, if you can see it. The .htaccess file looks good.

    Kind regards,
    Andrej
