1. There is an option to set the navigation colors in Theme Options -> Header & Menu -> Navigation Colors. There are settings both for the light menu and also for the dark version of the menu.
2. I recommend you enable the Top-bar. Top bar is turned off by default, but can be enabled in Theme Options -> Header & Menu -> Top bar Settings. After enabling it, you can add the an icon widget to the top bar in Appearance -> Widgets.
