I am not a web developer. I am just a dentist working with a friend to create our website. The website takes usually longer than 20 seconds to fully load. The hosting site is telling me when they test it, it loads at the average speed of less than 6 seconds. However, every time I check, it takes me 20 seconds or longer.
I am wondering if it is because I am using too many widgets? Do you have any ideas? Thank you.
I've used Pingdom and I can confirm the website loads very slow. Together it takes 31.68 s for the page to load. The main issue is, that it takes more then 20 seconds for the first data to even start downloading:
This basically means, there is something wrong with the hosting configuration ( and not the number of widgets, you use on your WordPress ).
The only way to solve this is through your hosting provider, or if they are not willing to resolve the issue, migrate the site to another hosting provider.
Thank you for that reply. The hosting site is telling me when they load the page, it all loads within 6 seconds. They recommended I use Cloudflare. Any thoughts on this?
Well I think Cludflare is great, but personally I still wouldn't trust a hosting if they are denying speed issues. They have detailed live metrics available for each of the server resource and (should) know what is happening on the network.
It can sometimes happen that the hosting provider is under some kind of ddos attack (huge amounts of fake traffic), and in such cases it is not their fault and they can't do much about it, but wait.
However they should not be in denying the speed issues, but explain them.
Another possibility is that your website is placed on a crowded server (with a lot of websites) and is running low on resources on traffic spikes. Consequentially your page takes more time to load. If this is the case, you should be migrating to another hosting provider.
I would use gtmetrix or pinkdom service to check the speed multiple times a day and send them screenshot each time the problem reappears.

Hi,
There are three online tools, which are commonly used for measuring page load speed.
- Pingdom https://tools.pingdom.com/
- GT Matrix
- Google page speed

Currently I see the speed of 5.4s on Gtmetrix, which is OK I guess. https://gtmetrix.com/reports/www.benedental.net/PSi5ZhsA
